Disney world 50th anniversary and ornaments

The Disney world 50th anniversary event was launched on June 8, 2017, and will run until September 30, 2017. This event marks the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland park in Anaheim, California, and the 30th Anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan. The party is themed after the year of a Million Dreams campaign that was used to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Walt Disney in 2005. During this event, guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Disney characters, parade around Main Street U.S.A., and many more celebrations that celebrate all things, Disney!

Disney 50th anniversary

More than a merchandising bonanza, Disney’s upcoming celebration of its 50 years of creating magic is an honest-to-goodness company milestone. The yearlong extravaganza will include special merchandise and a once-in-50-years parade at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. It also means that Disney has been making happy memories for five decades since W.E.D. Enterprises first opened in Los Angeles on October 16, 1955. Those early days included a small animation studio led by Walt Disney himself as well as another business unit called W.E.D. Enterprises, which was responsible for all nonanimation ventures, including television shows and parades like Disneyland’s Tribute to America. Disney was the sole owner of the company until 1966 when he made his brother Roy Disney co-owner. By this time, the park had become a huge success, with attendance numbers surpassing two million annually (around 10 times more than the original projections).

In 1967, construction began on Disney World near Orlando, Fla., with both amusement parks already open. On July 1 1968 — exactly one year after his death — Walt Disney became honorary chairman emeritus of the company bearing his name, and just two months later, on October 1, 1968, he took over that title permanently after Roy died from cancer at age 65. That meant he would be in charge until 1980 but sadly only had four more years to live as he passed away from lung cancer on December 15, 1966. But Disney’s legacy lives on today, and fans are not shy about expressing their love for him or Disney products.

On November 18, 1965 — less than a month before the opening day of Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla., on October 1, 1971 — Walt unveiled plans for an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) where people could live with the constant availability of advanced services. But it wasn’t until 1982 that EPCOT Center officially opened to the public showcasing new technology — some failed, and some succeeded — while introducing concepts never seen before, such as Futureworld, U.S.A.! and World Showcase, along with various restaurants representing different countries around the world.

Things you didn’t know about the history of Walt Disney World

The creation of Walt Disney World, located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (just outside Orlando), was a massive undertaking. Over 20 million cubic yards of dirt were moved to create 11 lakefront resorts as well as hundreds of acres of lush landscape. In fact, Walt Disney World is a city with its own fire department and newspaper! Although it’s only been open for 50 years, there’s a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to Walt Disney World.

There are four theme parks at Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Each park has something different to offer guests — from entertainment like Mickey’s PhilharMagic or Fantasmic! to educational exhibits like Spaceship Earth or Ellen’s Energy Adventure — which means that everyone will find something they love.
